Join Our Team!
Joining our team means that you will collect sponsorship donations and travel to Irvine, CA on March 13-14th to dance at the 24 Hour Cancer Dance-a-Thon main event.
At the event, our team must keep at least one person dancing at all times, like a relay race. The dance-a-thon is super fun with free live bands, DJs, dance classes, contests, performances and more happening around the clock to keep you on your toes.
How do I join?
Visit the official 24 Hour Cancer Dance-A-Thon website and:
- Register as a Dance-A-Thon participant
- Receive a welcome email and link to your own “participant page” that will instruct you on collecting donations
- From your participant page, select “San Francisco” as the team you’d like to join
Then what?
- Talk to people in person and ask them to sponsor you!
- Use the email tools on your participant page to request donations online!
- (optional) Create a personal dedication page here on our team website so you can let the world know why you’re supporting this cause!
- (optional) Attend our team meetings and help us run local dance fund raising activities such as lindy bombs, contests and more
- Dance with us in Irvine, CA on March 13-14th!
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to dance for the full 24 Hours?
No. Members of our team take turns dancing throughout the event. We must keep at least one person from our team dancing at all times, although we intend to do much better than that.
How many people can join the team?
We can have up to 28 team members on one team. If we have more than 28 people wanting to join, we’ll form a second team (or third!) team and count all the San Francisco teams contributions toward our $30K goal.
How much do I have to raise?
Each Dance-a-thon participant must raise at least $65 to take part in the main event. Our team would like to raise much more than that: $30K. We have already raised over $9000 toward our $30000 goal. With 14 team members, each team member would need to raise an average $1500 to reach our goal. With 28 team members, we’d each need to raise about $750 more. Of course any amount you can raise above the minimum $65 is appreciated!
How do I get to the main event in March?
We will help all team members who need rides to find a carpool from San Francisco, so that you can ride down and back with team members. Optionally, you may fly down to the event on your own, and we will be happy to pick you up from the nearby airport.
Do I have to only dance with my teammates at the Dance-A-Thon?
No. You can dance with anyone you want, whether they are on your team or another team. That’s what makes the dance-a-thon so much fun!
